Get in touch

After more than three decades of an international career and many years of working in Munich, Prof. Milomir Ninković, MD, PhD, a renowned specialist in plastic and reconstructive surgery, continued his professional journey at the International Medical Center Priora in Čepin, Croatia.

In an interview with Večernji list journalist Karolina Lubina, he discussed the reasons behind his return, his international career, complex reconstructive procedures, and the importance of passing on knowledge to younger generations of physicians.

From Munich to Priora: A Decision Driven by More Than Professional Ambition

After 20 years of working in Munich, Prof. Ninković decided to continue his professional career in Slavonia. In the interview, he explained that one of the key reasons for joining Priora was his desire to share his extensive international experience and knowledge with the next generation of physicians and contribute to the development of reconstructive surgery in Croatia.

He particularly emphasised the importance of educating young medical professionals and developing future generations of surgeons who will continue advancing this demanding surgical specialty.

“I would like to leave something behind – generations of people whom I have educated.”
Reflecting on his life and work in Slavonia, he expressed his satisfaction with the working conditions, the medical team, and the approach to patient care. For him, a successful healthcare institution is defined not only by outstanding medical expertise but also by preserving a compassionate and human-centred approach to everyday patient care.

Reconstructive Surgery That Changes Lives

Throughout his career, Prof. Ninković has contributed to the development of innovative surgical techniques and performed exceptionally complex reconstructive procedures.

During the interview, he recalled one particularly challenging case involving the reconstruction of the lower lip of a young patient whose entire lower lip had to be removed due to a malignant tumour. Using an innovative surgical approach, he sought to restore both the function and appearance of the patient’s face. He later presented the results of this procedure at an international medical conference.

Such cases demonstrate the important role reconstructive surgery can play in restoring function, independence, and quality of life.

Today, Prof. Ninković heads the Department of Plastic, Esthetic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery at Priora, where he applies his extensive international experience to patient care and the education of fellow physicians.

His professional journey highlights the importance of combining international expertise, modern medicine, and a personal commitment to patient care.
