In an interview with the Zdravlje i ja portal, Prof. Dr. Milomir Ninković spoke about the development of Croatian healthcare, the return of medical specialists from abroad, and his decision to continue developing his knowledge and expertise in Čepin.
From the very beginning, the idea behind IMC Priora was clear – to bring together leading medical specialists and provide them with the conditions needed to deliver healthcare at the highest level. This is precisely why Priora was built outside major urban centres, with an investment of more than €35 million.
“Excellence is our priority”
As Prof. Ninković points out, location itself is not an obstacle to the development of excellence in medicine. The key lies in people, knowledge, organisation and technology.
“Excellence is our priority” is not merely a slogan, but a principle guiding the development of IMC Priora – from medical treatment and state-of-the-art equipment to the way patients are treated.
Education is another important part of Priora’s mission. The aim is to pass on the experience gained through decades of work in an international environment to new generations of physicians. Today, Priora provides education and training not only to specialists from Croatia, but also to physicians from different parts of the world.

Leading Specialists as the Foundation for Development
The development of individual medical specialties at Priora is based on bringing together Croatian specialists with international experience and state-of-the-art technologies.
Priora was the first healthcare institution in Croatia to acquire the Da Vinci robotic surgical system, creating new opportunities for the development of advanced robotic surgery. Today, the Centre encompasses urology, gynaecology, abdominal surgery, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, cardiology, pulmonology and other medical specialties.
Prof. Ninković particularly emphasises the importance of creating an environment in which expertise can be passed on to future generations. Education and international collaboration are an integral part of Priora’s long-term development, with the aim of creating a centre where experience, knowledge and new medical technologies come together.
The interview also opened up a broader discussion about Croatian healthcare – how to retain high-quality physicians and create an environment in which specialists want to return and pursue their professional development in Croatia.
