Internal medicine at the Priora International Medical Center covers the entire spectrum of diseases of internal organs with detailed diagnostics, prevention and targeted treatment. Our internists and subspecialists guide the patient from the first interview and collection of anamnesis, through modern examinations, to a clear therapeutic plan and controls.

Assoc. Prof. Prim. Dr. Sc. Aleksandar Kibel, MD – Head of Internal Medicine and Cardiology

Specialist in internal medicine and subspecialist in cardiology, head of internal medicine and cardiology at the Priora International Medical Center and head of the Scientific Unit for Medical Research. He gained many years of experience at the Osijek Clinical Hospital Center, especially at the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases, where he led numerous clinical and scientific projects.

Dr. Kibel received his PhD in 2014 with a focus on cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology, and has furthered his knowledge at numerous international institutions in Germany, the USA, Spain, Cyprus and Thailand. He is the author and co-author of scientific papers published in international journals, the editor of professional publications and book chapters, and an active lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health in Osijek.

As a professor and researcher, he leads several scientific projects and mentors young doctors and doctoral students. At the Priora International Medical Center, he applies modern diagnostic and therapeutic approaches with a special emphasis on prevention, early diagnosis and personalized treatment of cardiovascular diseases, thereby connecting science and clinical practice for the benefit of patients.

Dr. Matej Plažanin, MD – specialist in internal medicine, subspecialist in gastroenterology

He completed his secondary education at the Natural Sciences and Mathematics High School in Našice (1993–1997), after which he enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek, where he graduated in 2005. He gained his first clinical experience during an internship at the General County Hospital in Našice (2005–2006).

He began his specialization in internal medicine in 2006 and completed it in 2011, working at the Clinical Hospital Center Osijek and the Sveti Duh Clinical Hospital in Zagreb. From 2011 to 2015, he worked as a specialist in internal medicine at the General County Hospital Našice, where he further developed his interest and expertise in the field of gastroenterology. Since 2023, he has worked at the Polyclinic “Slavonija” in Osijek, providing specialized care in the fields of internal medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology.

From June 2025, Dr. Plažanin will start working at the International Medical Center Priora, where he will work as a specialist gastroenterologist in the gastroenterology outpatient clinic, providing highly specialized diagnostics and treatment of diseases of the digestive system.

Zlatko Majić, MD – specialist in internal and emergency medicine, subspecialist in pulmonology

He completed his medical studies at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tuzla, and his specialist examination at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb, as well as a subspecialization in pulmonology. During his education, he focused on clinical work, diagnostics, and therapeutic procedures in the field of respiratory diseases.

He worked as an internist and pulmonologist at the Special Hospital for Pulmonary Diseases and TB Klenovnik, and then at the Clinical Hospital Center Osijek, where he also served as the head of the Unified Emergency Hospital and the Department of Pulmonology and Intensive Care of Internal Medicine Patients. In his work, he devoted significant attention to the organization of health care and the improvement of treatment procedures for patients with acute and chronic respiratory diseases.

He completed several postgraduate courses and actively participated in numerous domestic and international scientific and professional conferences in the field of pulmonology, where he followed the latest medical trends and applied them in everyday practice.

Cardiology – from prevention to regular treatment

Cardiology at the Priora International Medical Center deals with disorders of the heart and blood vessels: coronary disease (angina, heart attack), heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension, valve diseases, congenital heart diseases, thromboembolic diseases, aneurysms, myocarditis/pericarditis/endocarditis, etc.

Gastroenterology – endoscopic precision and safe therapy

Gastroenterology covers diseases of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, intestines, liver, biliary system and pancreas. Symptoms that require treatment in gastroenterology include abdominal pain, changes in bowel habits, bleeding, anemia, unexplained fatigue, heartburn, and weight loss.
