The International Medical Center Priora, located in Čepin near Osijek, has proudly become a certified holder of the EN 15224:2016 standard, a testament that all internal hospital processes are organized according to the highest quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
For any healthcare institution, obtaining a quality certificate proves a high level of service and validates professional performance. For patients, on the other hand, such certification instills trust, as it guarantees that the services they receive comply with internationally recognized high standards. Moreover, obtaining and maintaining certification requires systematic process management, which leads to better organization, reduced risk of errors, and greater employee satisfaction. Therefore, the type of certification under which certain services or products are offered should not be overlooked.
The International Medical Center Priora has earned the EN 15224:2016 certificate issued by the renowned certification body Det Norske Veritas (DNV). This standard is specific to the healthcare sector and is based on the requirements of ISO 9001, with additional emphasis on clinical processes, patient safety, risk management, continuity of care, and patient accountability.
“This is confirmation of our alignment with the highest European standards for quality management systems in healthcare. The certificate proves that all processes within IMC Priora are organized according to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency, with continuous improvement and patient focus at the core,” explains Dr. Tomislav Kalem, MSc, Director of IMC Priora and Head of the Urology Department.
“Receiving this certificate is a recognition of our ongoing investment in quality, safety, and excellence, and it gives our patients additional assurance that they are receiving healthcare following the highest international standards,” adds Dr. Kalem.
Certificates are more than just numbers. Quality systems, such as the mentioned ISO standard, are based on the philosophy of continuous improvement, encouraging organizations to consistently seek ways to enhance products, processes, and services. In Croatia, as in most of Europe, quality standards are more familiar within professional and business circles than the general public. Therefore, it is essential to raise awareness that certificates matter to every user or customer—because they guarantee the service or product quality.
The EN 15224:2016 certificate held by the specialized private hospital Priora covers the following areas: provision of inpatient treatment in the field of urology; day surgery in the fields of urology and plastic, aesthetic, reconstructive, and hand surgery; outpatient treatment in the fields of urology, anesthesiology, resuscitation and intensive care medicine, pulmonology, cardiology, as well as plastic, aesthetic, reconstructive, and hand surgery.
IMC Priora opened its doors in February last year in Čepin and was conceived from the outset as a place where top medical professionals and the latest technologies merge into a state-of-the-art medical center, delivering outstanding care at every stage of treatment.
