Specialist in Orthopaedics, Subspecialist in Traumatology
Dr. Ivan Karlak, specialist in orthopaedics and subspecialist in traumatology, was born in 1976 in Našice. After completing high school in his hometown, he enrolled at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, where he graduated in 2000. At the same faculty, he also completed a postgraduate professional study in orthopaedics.
He began his medical internship at the General County Hospital in Našice, where he gained fundamental clinical experience, and later worked as a ward physician in the Department of Surgery. He then continued his specialization in orthopaedics at the Šalata Orthopaedics Clinic in Zagreb.
After completing his specialization, he pursued his career at the Pelvic Surgery Department of the Traumatology Clinic, University Hospital Centre Sestre Milosrdnice, as a specialist in orthopaedics and traumatology, subspecialist in musculoskeletal traumatology, where he worked from 2008 to 2019. In 2019, he transitioned from the public healthcare system to the private sector, taking on the role of Head of the Orthopaedic Centre.
He joined the team of the International Medical Center Priora in 2025, bringing with him extensive knowledge, experience, and high standards in the diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic patients.
He is one of the leading experts in the field of orthopaedics and traumatology. His work focuses on joint replacement surgery with endoprostheses (hip, knee, shoulder), intra-articular fractures, and long bone fractures. He has also demonstrated great expertise in the treatment of pelvic injuries and in sports traumatology. He pays particular attention to an individualized approach for each patient, with an emphasis on functional recovery and long-term treatment outcomes.
Education holds great importance for him. He completed advanced training at the Institute of Anatomy in Padua and the Institute of Anatomy in Graz, and he further enriched his knowledge and skills at congresses in San Francisco, Paris, and Rio de Janeiro.
He is a member of several professional associations: the Croatian Traumatology Society, the Croatian Association of Orthopaedists and Traumatologists, and EFORT (European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology).
