Movember – it’s time for preventive checkups!

Get in touch

November is a month in which we think intensely about men’s health. Through the global Movember movement, awareness is being raised around the world about the importance of regular preventive check-ups, especially of the prostate and testicles.

The name “Movember” comes from the English words moustache and november. Men grow moustaches in November as a symbol of support and to encourage conversation about important topics such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.

Mona Lisa – the most modern prostate biopsy

The idea is that one small gesture – growing a mustache – can spark big changes and help save lives.

The Priora International Medical Center is proud of its urology, urological oncology and robotic surgery departments. Thanks to high technology, primarily the Da Vinci and Mona Lisa robotic systems, it is one of the most modern urology departments in Europe.

Biopsija prostate uz pomoć robota Mona Lisa najmodernija je metoda dijagnosticiranja raka prostate koja koristi fuzijsku tehnologiju za precizno i minimalno invazivno uzimanje uzoraka iz sumnjivih područja prostate. Kombinacijom snimaka magnetske rezonancije i ultrazvuka, robotski uređaj stvara trodimenzionalni prikaz prostate, što omogućuje ciljanje točno određenih lezija.

Da Vinci – A Revolution in Prostate Cancer Treatment

The Da Vinci robotic system, however, has revolutionized the treatment of prostate cancer. The first Da Vinci prostate surgeries in Croatia were performed at the International Medical Center Priora in June 2024. The sophisticated Da Vinci system enables minimally invasive surgeries and makes it easier for surgeons to access narrow anatomical segments, specific to urological pathology and areas that are difficult to access with classical or laparoscopic incisions.

One of the first steps in taking care of prostate health is certainly preventive urological examinations, and our experts will offer patients answers to all their questions. For the purpose of prevention, it is recommended to measure PSA – prostate specific antigen in the blood, which helps in the early detection of prostate cancer and other prostate diseases. In the laboratory of the International Medical Center Priora, the result is available in a very short time.
