This is a significant moment for IMC Priora, marking another important milestone in the history of modern medicine in Croatia

Advantages of da Vinci Robotic Surgery

Our gynecologist, Dr. Dimitrije Milojković, a subspecialist in gynecologic oncology, has obtained certification as a console surgeon for working with da Vinci technology. Dr. Milojković completed Intuitive’s technology training program, which covers the components and use of the da Vinci system, instruments, and accessories.

This is also a major moment for IMC Priora, adding another important chapter to the history of modern medicine in Croatia. In the future, the da Vinci robotic system will also be used in gynecologic surgeries, making our hospital the first in Croatia to apply this technology once again. As a reminder, the first surgeries performed in Croatia with the da Vinci system, prostate cancer procedures, were carried out at Priora in June 2024.

Less bleeding and greater precision

Dr. Milojković will perform the first da Vinci procedures under the mentorship of Dr. Balázs Lintner, a gynecologic oncologist from Semmelweis University in Budapest.

One of the key advantages of the da Vinci system is that during surgery, the surgeon has four robotic arms that fully replicate and further enhance human hand movements. Compared with laparoscopic procedures, the robotic arms offer exceptional dexterity with a range of motion of up to 540 degrees, whereas laparoscopic instruments are more limited. In addition, da Vinci provides an extremely precise 3D visualisation of all anatomical structures. This enables procedures to be performed in very confined areas with millimetre-level precision, while minimizing bleeding and reducing the likelihood of errors.
