Kidney stones (nephroliths) form when certain substances such as calcium, oxalate, uric acid, or cystine crystallize and deposit in the urine. Their composition can indicate the underlying cause and provide physicians with a basis for further prevention and treatment. Analyzing the stones is essential in understanding the patient’s metabolism and preventing recurrence.
How to send your kidney stone for analysis:
- Prepare the sample – Place the stone in a clean, dry plastic container or bag.
- Include your information – Make sure to enclose:
- Full name, date of birth, and home address
- Date when the stone was passed or surgically removed
- Proof of payment for the analysis
- Your phone number or email address (where we will send the results)
