\u201cAwareness of the importance of preventive examinations should be developed from an early age to prevent unwanted consequences later in life. Progress has been made, but education is still essential, especially because of the stigma that still exists when it comes to gynecological and urological check-ups<\/strong>.<\/a> It is important that parents talk to their children about these topics in a way that is understandable and acceptable to them, so that in adulthood such examinations are seen as natural and not uncomfortable,\u201d says Dr. Dimitrije Milojkovi\u0107<\/a><\/strong>, specialist in gynecology and obstetrics and subspecialist in gynecologic oncology. He has many years of experience in diagnosing and treating gynecological diseases<\/a><\/strong> and today leads the gynecology clinic at IMC Priora in \u010cepin<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gynecologist: when is the right time for the first examination?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Cervical cancer<\/a><\/strong> most commonly occurs in women between the ages of 30 and 50<\/strong>, although changes can begin much earlier. Infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV)<\/a><\/strong> is associated with an increased risk of this malignancy, but also with other conditions and cancers such as vulvar<\/a><\/strong> and vaginal cancer in women, and anal cancer and genital warts in both women and men. Regular Pap smears<\/a><\/strong> and HPV testing<\/strong> can detect changes early and prevent the development of cancer. From infection with high-risk HPV strains to the potential onset of cervical cancer, ten to fifteen years may pass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
